Sustainable Fashion Mural

In November 2022 Ealing Broadway partnered with ActforEaling, calling for Ealing’s young people to submit designs for a brand-new #EalingSewnUp sustainable fashion mural in St.Saviour’s Walk.

The winning design was created by Tara Davies (age.16) from St.Benedict’s School, Ealing. Inspired by her love of style, art and the environment and thanks to encouragement from her mum, Tara set off to understand more about the vital role of sustainable fashion in our modern world. She was immediately inspired by the sense of fun and creativity that comes with sustainable fashion choices.

The patchwork theme she created captures her love of combining different textures – something she discovered in the creation of her GCSE art piece. Whilst working on the mural design, Tara learned the incredible impact of fashion habits she already loved! Discovering different styles in charity shops and swapping clothes with friends were part of everyday life but now she realised just how much of a difference these habits had on the world.

Tara’s call to action to the community of Ealing… “If there are clothes you no longer want, don’t throw them in the bin, swap them or give them to charity because someone out there will love what you no longer wear.”

Tara was joined by friends at Ealing Broadway on 20th November and with the guidance of Paint Your Planet transferred her design onto the wall in St.Saviour’s Walk. Check out this video for a glimpse of the day:

‘Sustainable Fashion’ by Tara Davies is on permanent display in St.Saviour’s Walk, Ealing Broadway.
