Accelerate is a pioneering design education and mentoring programme aimed at increasing diversity in the built environment professions.
Open City is pleased to announce that we are recruiting for the 2021/22 Accelerate programme. Accelerate is a free out of school learning opportunity for Year 12 and 13 students from Camden, Hackney, Westminster, Ealing and Tower Hamlets interested in architecture and the built environment industries, run by Open City in collaboration with UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture.
What is Accelerate?
Accelerate is a pioneering education and mentoring programme aimed at increasing diversity in the built environment profession. It gives students the confidence and skills needed to make strong university applications to study architecture and other related courses.
Who is Accelerate for?
Accelerate is for ambitious Year 12 and 13 students, who potentially wish to pursue a career in architecture or design relating to the built environment (engineering, planning etc). Students must live or go to school in Ealing.
How does it work?
Accelerate provides students with:
– 1 to 1 mentoring with an architect at their London office.
– skills development workshops in a university environment.
– peer to peer learning with university students.
– an architecture project brief devised by UCL and and Open-City.
– guidance workshops on portfolio production and university applications.
All Accelerate participants will also showcase their work in an exhibition held in a central London venue.
When is Accelerate?
The programme starts in October 2021 and ends May 2022.
The deadline for applications is Friday 17 September 2021.
Please email Siraaj Mitha, [email protected] for an application form.
